In defense of fundamental rights on the Internet

Like hundreds of websites and blogs, inoQuo adheres to the Manifesto in Defense of Fundamental Rights of the Internet (ES), thus echoing the strong protest against the Sustainable Economy Law project, presented by the PSOE to the Spanish parliament.

As many of you know already, that law provides that is an Intellectual Property Commission of the Ministry of Culture (read SGAE), which examines whether a Web site violates copyright and, where appropriate, give the order to operators to block that page, without any intervention by any judge.

This means that allows a private entity for profit to violate the right to privacy of Internet users and decide which pages should be closed.

If passed the law, no mechanism exists only to close Spanish pages but also block all types of digital services, according to the committee, violating intellectual property.
